Touch ID, Face ID, & App Lock

You can keep your budget secure by enabling biometric authentication on iOS devices and App Lock on Android devices. 🔒

This feature uses the authentication method you’ve set up via your phone settings. That may be Touch/Face ID on iOS, or a fingerprint, passcode, or pattern on Android. If you don’t have authentication set up on your device, you won’t see the option in YNAB.

Once the feature is enabled, you'll need to provide authentication when you open YNAB or when you switch apps to YNAB after a five-minute grace period.

How to Enable/Disable Authentication

  1. Tap the More Menu (three dots icon) from your Budget screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. On iOS, toggle the Face ID/Touch ID option on or off.
  4. On Android, toggle the App Lock option on or off.
  5. You'll be prompted to authenticate immediately.

On Android Devices enabling App Lock will disable your ability to take screenshots within the app. If you want to take a screenshot, you can do this by temporarily turning off App Lock using the steps above. Once you've gathered the screenshots you need, you can toggle it right back on!

Logging Out

Logging out on a mobile device or making an account change that logs you out of all devices will automatically turn off Biometric Identification. You can re-enable it when you log back in!
