Touch ID, Face ID, & App Lock

You can keep your budget secure by enabling biometric authentication on iOS devices and App Lock on Android devices. 🔒

This feature uses the authentication method you’ve set up via your phone settings. That may be Touch/Face ID on iOS, or a fingerprint, passcode or pattern on Android. If you don’t have authentication set up on your device, you won’t see the option in YNAB.

Once enabled, you'll need to provide authentication when you open YNAB or when you switch apps to YNAB after a five-minute grace period.

To Enable Authentication

  • Navigate to the Settings menu by tapping on the More Menu (three dots icon) in your Budget screen.
  • On iOS toggle the Face ID/Touch ID option on.
  • On Android, toggle the App Lock option on.
  • You'll be prompted to authenticate immediately.

On Android Devices enabling App Lock will disable your ability to take screenshots within the app. If you want to take a screenshot, simply navigate to settings, toggle App Lock off, take the needed screenshots, and then turn App Lock back on via Settings.

Logging Out

Logging out on a mobile device or making an account change that logs you out of all devices will automatically turn off Biometric Identification. You can re-enable it when you log back in!
